Assistant Director on Immune – a New Play

Immune was a new play that was co-commissioned by the Royal and Derngate theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse and Theatre Royal Plymouth and written by award winning Playwright Oladipo Agboluaje.

The Royal and Derngate were lucky enough to produce the world premiere of the show between the three theatres’ and also hosted an away weekend to develop the script. As the Assistant Director I was part of the year long process in leading workshops with the youth group as well as contributing to parts of the final show. As a result the play has been published by Oberon Books.

As my first Assistant Directors job I found it challenging but always got through each of these through communication and staying positive. It was as much about the journey as it was the final product which made it a real success.
